The Psychology Session Podcast
Created & Hosted by Devin Jones
Devin Jones is a Professor of Psychology at Paradise Valley Community College where he teaches classes ranging from Introduction to Psychology to Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences. After graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in business he spent a few years working in commercial and retail banking. Disappointed with his first career choice, he completed a Masters in Educational Psychology at Northern Arizona University. Devin is now in doctoral study gaining the credentials required for licensure as a psychologist. Professionally he is interested in the field of neuropsychology and using media to educate others about psychology. In addition he has been cited in the Monitor on Psychology, a publication of the American Psychological Association, for his podcast. When he is not focusing on his career his interests include: bodybuilding, distance running, exploring caves, video gaming, and science fiction.
The podcast is updated weekly throughout the year, except during the summer. Now in its third season, the format consists of discussion with area professionals and how psychology affects their lives. Show topics include areas of debate such as: licensure and prescription privileges for mental health professionals, stress management, common sense solutions to everyday problems, and a series on brain anatomy and function. Depending on the state, listening to the show may count for a portion of professional psychology licensure continuing education. Listener interaction is encouraged with a weekly trivia question. If answered correctly via email, winners receive prizes ranging from “Dr. Marlo temporary tattoos” to a “roomerang” indoor boomerang.
